1. Agreement to these terms
By accessing this website or purchasing, downloading, or using a product, you agree to these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the website or purchase the product.
2. The product
The Home Savings Handbook is a downloadable educational product for people who pay utility bills or help make household decisions in older or inefficient homes in the United States. It is designed primarily for homeowners, while renters may use the bill analysis, observation, and low-risk action sections. The current package contains exactly three PDF files: the Core Action Guide, Climate & Evidence Reference, and Homeowner Workbook. The product page controls the edition, page counts, price, and files included with your order at the time of purchase.
3. Payment and digital delivery
This is a one-time digital purchase, not a subscription, unless the checkout page expressly says otherwise. Dodo Payments processes the transaction as merchant of record and may calculate taxes, issue the receipt or invoice, screen for fraud, and handle payment-related matters under its own buyer terms.
After successful payment, download access is provided by email or the customer portal configured for the order. You are responsible for entering a working email address and keeping your own lawful backup of downloaded files. If delivery fails, follow the steps on the Orders page.
4. Personal-use licence
After purchase, you receive a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to download, store, and use the PDFs for your own household. You may print reasonable copies for use by members of that household.
You may not
You may not sell, share, sublicense, redistribute, upload, publish, or make the original files or substantial portions available to others; remove ownership notices; rebrand the material as your own; include it in another product, membership, training set, repository, or download library; or use it to create a competing guide. A purchase transfers a licence, not ownership of the product.
5. Educational and safety limitations
The guide is general educational information. It is not a home inspection, energy audit, engineering report, code determination, contractor scope, or legal, tax, medical, or financial advice. It does not replace manufacturer instructions, permits, local codes, utility rules, lease terms, landlord approval, or advice from a qualified professional who has inspected the property.
Conditions in older houses can involve electrical shock, fire, combustion gases, carbon monoxide, structural failure, mold, asbestos, lead, radon, refrigerants, contaminated water, falls, and other hazards. Stop work and use an appropriately qualified local professional whenever a task is outside your competence, requires a licence or permit, or presents a safety concern. Renters must not alter equipment or the building without the property owner’s permission.
6. No guaranteed savings or results
We aim to describe the product accurately and support claims with traceable public guidance. Actual costs, savings, comfort, durability, eligibility, and payback vary with the house, climate, weather, rates, fuel, occupancy, maintenance, equipment, contractor work, and local law. Examples and national averages are not promises about your home. You remain responsible for investigating conditions and deciding whether to act.
7. Refund requests
You may request a full refund within seven days of purchase by using the Contact page and providing your order email and order number. After seven days, sales are final except where a refund is required by applicable law or the checkout provider’s binding terms. Approved refunds are returned through the original payment method and may take additional processing time.
8. Updates and availability
Your purchase includes the edition and files identified at checkout. Future revisions, replacement editions, or additional files are included only if the product page expressly says so. We may correct, update, replace, or discontinue website content and products, subject to existing customer rights and applicable law.
9. Intellectual property
The original text, selection, organization, worksheets, graphics, branding, and layout of the product and website are owned by The Home Savings Handbook or used with permission and are protected by applicable intellectual-property laws. Government publications, agency names, trademarks, and third-party materials remain the property of their respective owners. References to agencies do not imply endorsement.
10. Third-party services and links
The website and guide may link to government agencies, utilities, manufacturers, Dodo Payments, Vercel, or other third parties. Their content, availability, terms, and privacy practices are outside our control. A link is provided for convenience or sourcing and does not automatically constitute endorsement.
11. Disclaimer of warranties
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, the website and digital products are provided “as is” and “as available.” We do not warrant uninterrupted access, error-free files, compatibility with every device or application, or fitness for a particular home, project, or purpose. Rights that cannot lawfully be excluded remain unaffected.
12. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, The Home Savings Handbook and its operator will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages arising from use of, or inability to use, the website or product. To the extent liability may lawfully be limited, total liability for a product-related claim will not exceed the amount paid for that product. This section does not limit liability that cannot legally be limited.
13. Changes to these terms
We may revise these terms as the product, providers, or legal requirements change. The updated version will be posted here with a revised date. Changes do not retroactively reduce rights that have already vested under applicable law.
